Frequently Asked Questions

What is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to a birthing person and their partner before, during, and shortly after labor and birth.

Unlike doctors or midwives, a birth doula does not perform clinical tasks or make medical decisions. Instead, a doula’s role is to support you—helping you feel informed, confident, and supported throughout your birth experience.

What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula is a trained, non-medical professional who supports families during the weeks and months after birth, often called the fourth trimester. Their role is to help parents recover, adjust, and feel confident as they care for their newborn and themselves.

Postpartum doulas focus on education, emotional support, and practical hands-on help—not medical care. Think of a postpartum doula as a calm, knowledgeable guide during one of the biggest transitions of your life.

How much do your services cost?

Because every family’s needs, preferences, and circumstances are unique, I don’t offer one-size-fits-all pricing. Instead, I create customized support plans designed around what you actually need—whether that’s birth support, postpartum care, overnight newborn care, education, or a combination of services.

This approach allows me to:

  • Tailor services to your family’s goals and values

  • Recommend the right level of support (not more, not less)

  • Design a plan that aligns with your budget and priorities

What is a newborn care specialist

A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is a trained, non-medical professional who specializes in the care, development, and sleep of newborns, typically from birth through the first 12–16 weeks of life. An NCS works closely with families to establish safe routines, support feeding, and promote healthy sleep—while ensuring parents get the rest and guidance they need.

Unlike medical providers, a Newborn Care Specialist does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Instead, they provide evidence-based education and hands-on support rooted in infant development and safety standards.
